Long Story Short

Michelle’s Mom and Dad will tell you that from a very young age she was curious, bold, and loved to talk, “It was exhausting.” So it came as no surprise when Michelle proclaimed at the age of seven that she would be a news reporter - she even made a demo reel in grade four and no you cannot see it.

After high school and a stark realization that singing was absolutely NOT her calling, Michelle attended Trent University. Over the course of her program, she hosted three radio talk shows on Trent Radio and wrote for all the school newspapers. Storytelling was her passion and she needed to do more of it so off to Australia she went. Sharp transition, but here’s the thing...

Michelle wanted to travel after her undergrad and get a Master’s degree, so she fed two birds with one seed and graduated with a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Griffith University on the Gold Coast.

Here, Michelle fell in love with video broadcasting after interning at Nine Gold Coast News, where she worked with some of Australia's top journalists.

After returning to Canada, she landed an anchor and video journalist position at The Weather Network, where she worked for five years. Today, Michelle lives in Toronto and works as a news reporter, anchor and weather specialist for CityNews, doing what she loves: telling stories.

Michelle is also a proud mental health advocate, sharing her story of healing from an eating disorder in hopes of inspiring those suffering, and their loved ones, that recovery is possible. She works with organizations across the country such as the Canadian Mental Health Association and Jack.org.
